This project encourages schools and community organisations to host their own clothes swap events. This will help to keep the clothes waste stream circular and save Kent residents money.
The events aim to exchange as many garments as possible. Any leftover items can be donated (to the Rag Bag scheme, for example). The project also pays schools up to £400 for each tonne of clothing recycled.
The first successful events have already taken place. The project is set to branch out later this year and will soon offer clothing repair workshops. Please get in touch with the Low Carbon Kent team if you would like to arrange a clothes swap or ‘repair café’ event.
