PECT completed a series of resident surveys and focus groups to better understand attitudes towards waste and recycling. The results highlighted barriers such as a lack of understanding and access to information.
A pilot scheme is being developed to overcome some of these barriers. The team has chosen one ward to work with within Peterborough.
PECT will use a communications campaign and carry out door-knocking on selected streets. Posters, billboards and free recycling resources will be given to those that complete a survey on their recycling habits.
The programme will include a variety of measures and work with the local community. It is also supported by local BLUEPRINT Ambassadors.
