Description

The supermarket chain has been introducing refill zones in their stores, partnering with brands to encourage customers to opt to use refillable products. Refillable products include Yorkshire Tea, Kellogg’s Cereals, Tilda rice, Radox and Persil. The largest refill store open is located in York, with 18 standalone bays featuring over 100 branded and own-label products in refillable format.

Location

Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.

Scale

Currently 4 stores across the UK have refill zones.

Potential circular economy impact

The goal is to make reuse and refill a part of every ASDA shopping trip. By encouraging more customers to refill rather than buy items with plastic packaging, less waste is produced and a closed loop is created.
